P4G Investigates Air and Water Pressure

In science, P4G have been investigating what happens to air and water when pressure is applied.
First, we trapped air in a syringe and pushed down on the plunger. We found that the plunger moved, but the more we pushed, the more the air pushed back. This showed us that as the volume of air decreases, its resistance increases.
Next, we tried the same investigation with water. We couldn’t push the plunger down because water’s volume stayed the same. Unlike air, water is a liquid and is not easily compressed.
Finally, we used what we had learned about air pressure to make air guns. We explored how changing the pressure affected how far the stopper travelled—and had lots of fun along the way!
