P4G Explores the Power of Batteries! 🔋⚡

These past few weeks, P4G has been doing some electrifying science in class! We've been busy little scientists investigating how batteries work and how connecting them in different ways changes the power of electricity.

Our big question was: How does the way we connect batteries affect the electric current and the speed of a motor fan?

We used cool tools like galvanometers (they measure electric current!) and little motor fans to help us see the magic happen.

Our Discoveries! ✨

We tried connecting batteries in two special ways:

1. Series Connection

When we put batteries "in a line," one after the other, we found that the electric current became much bigger and

made our motor fans spun super fast! It was like giving the fan an extra strong push! This happened because connecting them in series adds up their power.

2. Parallel Connection

Then, we tried connecting batteries "side-by-side,". Here, something different happened. The electric current stayed about the same as with just one battery and our motor fans spun at almost the same speed. It seems that connecting them in parallel helps batteries share the work, but it doesn't give the fan an extra push. (It might make the fan spin for a longer time though!)

What We Learned! 💡

Our experiment taught us that the way you connect batteries really matters!

Series connections give you more power (like a bigger push) and make things go faster.

Parallel connections are great for sharing the load and making power last longer, but don't usually increase the speed.

We had so much fun being electrical engineers! Now that we've finished our investigations, we finished off by building small electric cars to test our circuits in! Keep an eye out for more exciting science adventures from P4G!
