The first week at the new Tai Po campus of the Japanese International School (JIS) marked a fresh chapter for students, teachers, and parents alike. Moving from the Happy Valley Campus brought a big change, but it also sparked excitement and hope for the year ahead. This week was filled with welcoming moments, new faces, and opportunities to build a strong community.
A Warm Welcome for New Students
The opening ceremony set a positive tone for the year. It was a special occasion to greet the new Primary 1 (P1) and Secondary 1 (S1) students. Parents joined the event, sharing in the excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead. The ceremony was more than just a formality; it was a celebration of new beginnings and the start of many learning adventures.
Getting to Know Teachers and Classmates
In Primary 5G, students met their new teachers, Mr. Tomsett and Mr. Yoshida. This introduction helped students feel comfortable and ready to engage in their lessons. The teachers shared their plans for the year and encouraged students to ask questions and express their interests.
Students also completed Cognitive Reasoning Tests (CRT) to help teachers understand their strengths and areas for growth. These assessments will guide personalized learning throughout the year.
Learning and Fun Go Hand in Hand
The first week balanced academic activities with social time. Students participated in introduction lessons that laid the groundwork for the subjects ahead. During breaks, the atmosphere was lively and joyful. Groups gathered to play board games, create art, and share laughs. These moments helped build friendships and a sense of belonging.
The mix of structured learning and relaxed social time made the transition smoother for everyone. It showed that school is not just about studying but also about connecting with others and enjoying the experience.
Looking Ahead to a Bright Year
This new start at the Tai Po campus is full of promise. The enthusiasm from students, teachers, and parents creates a strong foundation for success. Everyone is ready to face challenges, explore new ideas, and grow together.
