On a bright day filled with energy and inspiration, Kagami Sensei led an exciting lesson on Haikus, the elegant form of traditional Japanese poetry. This lesson stood out even more because it coincided with Parents’ Observation Day, an opportunity for families to experience their children’s learning firsthand.

As parents started to arrive, the air crackled with anticipation. They were eager to see their children express themselves artistically. Kagami Sensei re-introduced the concept of Haikus, explaining their striking simplicity: three lines with a 5-7-5 syllable structure. Kagami Sensei created a warm and inviting atmosphere, encouraging collaboration among students and parents. The session was enjoyed by all and I can't wait to see more Haikus created by the students.

Once the creative session wrapped up, the school held a Parents' Teachers' meeting, providing a vital chance for parents and teachers to connect. The environment was friendly and open, the teachers introduced themselves and the excitement of the year to come.

Reflecting on the Parents’ Observation Day, it is clear how vital collaboration is in education. By witnessing the art of Haikus through their children’s creativity, parents became more involved in their academic journey. Kagami Sensei’s enthusiasm and talent left an indelible mark, demonstrating how powerful it can be to bring families into the learning process. Through poetry, relationships were deepened, nurturing a shared love for language and setting the stage for these young poets’ future successes.
