Our Lamma Adventure: How humans can impact nature on the island...
There had been a growing excitement all around the 5-G classroom. Hushed whispers and animated giggles could be heard throughout the morning. The day had finally come... The trip to Lamma Island had finally come!
Everything had been prepared the night before everyone was ready to leave our precious school and head out on a fantastic trip to learn more about Hong Kong, the impact of humans and nature.
We lined up quietly, rushed downstairs and got on our very own private bus! Away we went, the giggles and whispers from earlier turning into waves of noise and laughter!
We had been terribly worried about the rain all week, but luckily, Nozomi had brought us a fantastic mascot - a Teru teru bōzu! (てるてる坊主). This lucky charm protected us from the rain and storm and gave us mostly clear skies! We managed to get onto the ferry unscathed and away we went!
As soon as we arrived on Lamma island, the fun really began! we had a whole educational day planned and the students learned with smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts!
What a day that was! We rode boats, interviewed local "Lamma Life" livers, fished, explored junk boats, hunted for rubbish allong the shore, posed for photo shoots and discussed how the impact of humans has changed the area around this wonderful island. It's safe to say everyone had a fantastic time and learned a whole lot!
Thank you P5-G for being such amazing humans!
