The P5 class has been fully engaged in a variety of activities that blend learning with enjoyment. Their days are packed with lessons that challenge their minds and physical activities that build confidence and coordination. This balance helps students stay motivated and develop a wide range of skills.
Exploring Geometric Areas in Maths
Recently, the class has focused on understanding geometric areas. They have been calculating the space inside different shapes, such as rectangles, triangles, paralellograms, trapeziums and even the famous rhombus. This hands-on approach helps students see how maths applies to real life, like measuring the size of a garden or a room.
Students work in groups to solve problems, which encourages teamwork and communication. They use rulers and grid paper to draw shapes and find areas, making the learning process interactive and clear.
We have also joined with P5 -1 to enter a weekly maths calculation competition. This has really helped everyone's basic calculation skills, speed and belief in ourselves!
Discovering How Things Dissolve in Science
Science lessons have been exciting as the class explores the concept of dissolving. Students learn what happens when substances like sugar or salt mix with water. They conduct simple experiments to observe how these substances disappear into the liquid, helping them understand solutions and mixtures.
These experiments spark curiosity and allow students to ask questions and make predictions. For example, they compare how quickly sugar dissolves in hot water versus cold water, which introduces them to the idea of temperature affecting chemical processes.
Building Confidence in Gymnastics
Physical education has taken a dynamic turn with gymnastics lessons. The class practices using jumping blocks, learning how to move gracefully and safely. This activity requires bravery and focus, as students try new movements and improve their balance.
Teachers encourage students to support each other, creating a positive environment where everyone feels comfortable trying their best. The progress in gymnastics shows how physical skills develop alongside mental growth.
Singing and Playing Music
Music class has been a joyful time for the P5 students. They are learning new songs and practicing their voices to improve pitch and rhythm. Some students have even showcased their talents by playing the piano beautifully, adding a special touch to the class performances.
This musical practice helps with memory, listening skills, and self-expression. It also brings the class together, as they enjoy making music as a group.
Enjoying Card Games with Mr. Tomsett
When there is some free time, the students gather to play card games with Mr. Tomsett. These games are not only fun but also teach strategy and patience. Impressively, some students have managed to win against Mr. Tomsett, showing their growing skills and competitive spirit.
Playing card games provides a relaxed way to build social skills and enjoy friendly competition, rounding out the school day with laughter and connection.
