Happy New Year! 2023, HERE WE COME!

One year has ended and a brand new year has just begun! Are you excited? What are your fears? What are your resolutions? Before we move on and focus on the future, let's all have a closer look and remember the end of last year! We did so many things! Please take a look at our last week of 2022:

We made Christmas decorations and beautiful carving art! The 5G students are extremely creative and so they were able to really use their ideas to create some stunning artworks, even with paper, wood and paint!

We said goodbye (for now) to our wonderful Ms. Chow. We made her a card with all of our students' well-wishes and bought her a lovely gift that her new baby will wear comfortably and think of HKJS. We can't wait to meet your little baby !!

We experimented with "States of Matter", such as liquids, solids and gases, in order to decipher the mysteries of matter. We used heat and cold to change forms, dissolve many different solids and unravel the joy of discovery.

The students planned Christmas party games in English Group classes. In Mr. Tomsett's class, the students were split up into 3 groups: Fat Santas, Raging Reindeers and Evil Elves. Each group took the initiative to create their very own Christmas entertainment for the other students. We had a throw snowballs at Santa game. We had a pin the dagger on the Elf game after a Christmas quiz. Finally, we had a Christmas escape room in which the students had to discover and work out riddles about the winter season in order to find the code to break loose from their Christmas prison. The games were a little cheeky twist on the festive cheer you would normally find. Even Miss. Inui had a go! Better luck next year Inui San!

With the world cup at its height, 5G were fully involved and excited to follow the biggest sporting occasion of the year. Add to that, a sparkling and valiant effort by the Japanese national team to not only defeat 4 time winners Germany but also an edge of your seat victory over one of the powerhouses of football, Spain. Mr. Tomsett is a big football fan and so he decided to bring this love into the classroom by assigning 2 random teams to both students and teachers to see who would battle it out to the top spot. As it turned out, Argentina beat France in the final and Croatia came 3rd after their win over another stand-out team, Morocco. Here are our prize winners below:

For the final day of term 2, the Global Class teachers arranged for a huge Christmas party in the assembly hall! The students had so much fun playing a board game, secret Santa present drop, a True or False quiz, carol singing and much more! It was an epic day with joy and smiles everywhere you looked. We were treated to a brilliantly hilarious nativity play by the 4G class. These lucky students even got a visit from Santa himself! Take a look at our wonderful time here:

I hope all you parents had a fantastic 2022 and believe, like me, that 2023 is going to be the best year yet! Take care, be blessed and let's do our best this coming year! Ganbarimashou!
