Autumn Animals

Autumn Animal and Insect Behaviour Research Project

This week, P4G embarked on an exciting research project exploring how various animals and insects adapt to the changing temperatures of autumn. Students investigated key behaviours such as migration, hibernation, and lifecycle changes, gaining a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

Highlights of Our Findings:

- Migration: Many birds, such as geese, begin their journey south as temperatures drop. This behaviour ensures they find food and warmer climates during the winter months.

- Hibernation: Animals, like bears, prepare for winter by hibernating. They gather and store food in the autumn to sustain them through the cold months ahead, showcasing their remarkable adaptation skills.

- Insect Behaviour: Insects, like the praying mantis, lay their eggs in the fall, ensuring that the next generation will emerge in favorable conditions come spring. Some, like ladybugs, seek shelter to survive colder temperatures.

Students worked independently to research assigned animals and insects. Next week they will present their findings through group discussions and a brief presentation; we are excited to learn about the fascinating behaviours of animals during Autumn!
